Today is the first Halloween Blue Moon in 76 years, I'm sitting in my living room watching "I Know What You Did Last Summer"...wondering when this actual scary movie will end! Moving on...the year is winding down, the pandemic hasn't slowed...so here's another update. I've officially joined an ALL BLACK Art Collective! Peep the Mission Statement below:
Founded in 2020, Extant is an interdisciplinary group of Black visual artists. Their practice seeks to transform the notion of how blackness is defined within the media, into what blackness truly is in the world—determined, pluralistic and universal. A collective of black lenses that uses different mediums to express: Black joy, Black pain, vulnerability, fear and desire. Extant investigates human behavior and experiences both within their own perspectives and also collectively, in essence, proposing more nuanced social and cultural narratives surrounding their identity. Our Diaspora, AfroFuturism and Abstraction is not a monolith but rather a spiritual force that expresses each of our unique contributions to the Black experience.
